Southern Region Chapter of the Year
2018 Black Heritage Calendar Fest
Chapter members, family, and friends celebrated the 18th Annual Black Heritage Calendar Fest on February 3, 2018. This year’s theme, “Celebrating the Arts”, showcased the sorority’s commitment to promoting artistic talent under the Arts and Letters banner. The program featured local talent in dance, poetry, songs, and music.
The Melbourne-Palm Bay Alumnae Chapter (MPBAC) Annual Black Heritage Calendar Fest is the vision of Soror Sandra Pelham who saw a need to educate local residents about the accomplishments of prominent African Americans. Each year chapter members showcase those accomplishments through beautiful table displays highlighting the 12 months of the year and Kwanzaa during the month of February. MPBAC Arts & Letters initiatives strive to promote a positive image of African Americans and other minorities in our community through the medium of music, dance, drama, and poetry.
National President Lillian Benbow established the National Commission on Arts and Letters in 1973.
